Longarm Quilting

Sweet Gum Quilting offers computerised edge-to-edge quilting. This is when a digital quilting design (often called a pantograph) is repeated all over your quilt regardless of piecing or appliqué. Custom quilting isn’t currently available.

Calculate Quilting Cost

The price of edge-to-edge quilting depends on the size or total square feet (TSF) of your quilt top and the quilting design. Follow these steps to calculate the cost of edge-to-edge quilting:

Step 1: Measure Your Quilt Top

First, measure the width and length of your quilt top in inches.

Example of 60 x 60 quilt top.PNG

Step 2: Calculate Total Square Feet

Next, calculate your quilt's Total Square Feet (TSF) using this formula:

Width (inches) × Length (inches) ÷ 144 = Total Square Feet (TSF)

For example, for a quilt top measuring 60 inches x 60 inches:
60 inches × 60 inches = 3600 square inches
3600 square inches ÷ 144 = 25 TSF

This TSF value represents the total area of your quilt top in square feet.

Step 3: Choose Your Quilting Design

Sweet Gum Quilting offers an extensive library of digital quilting designs for edge-to-edge quilting. Choose from an all-over light meander to a more intricate or themed design that perfectly complements your quilt. View a selection of edge-to-edge quilting designs under themes in the Quilting Design section of this website.

All edge-to-edge designs are $6.00 per TSF (thread and quilting design process included). There's a minimum charge of $80.00 for edge-to-edge quilting projects.

Step 4: Calculate Your Estimated Cost

Once you have your quilt's TSF (from Step 2) you can quickly estimate your quilting cost (using the $6.00 per TSF edge-to-edge design price).

Quilt Size (TSF) × Design Price = Estimated Quilting Cost

For example, to estimate the cost of an edge-to-edge design for a quilt measuring 60 inches x 60 inches:
Your Quilt Size: 25 TSF
Edge-to-Edge Design Price: $6.00 per TSF
Calculation: 25 TSF × $6.00 = $150.00

Additional Services and Final Quote

The estimated edge-to-edge quilting cost doesn't include additional services such as batting, backing fabric, and quilt preparation if required. The final price will be quoted during the Quilting Design Process.
